IN CELEBRATION OF MARVEL STUDIOS’ SEQUEL TO BLACK PANTHER, IHC PRODUCED THE WAKANDA FOREVER GALLERY FEATURING FOUR INCREDIBLE ARTISTS.

IHC commissioned Jonny Rabbit, Gorge Garza, Shizu Saldamando, and Tracy Guiteau to create portraits inspired by the people of the Talokan and Wakandan communities. Their mission was to masterfully incorporate the film’s underlying pillars of tradition and celebrate the powerful women behind them.

The gallery was produced for a special Straw Hat Goofy prescreening of the film at the Cinemark Theatre in Playa Vista. The theater loved the art so much that they kept it up throughout the opening weekend!

In Addition to the screening, Disney featured the work of all four artists across their official Marvel Studios and Black Panther Instagrams and elected to use the artwork for a special auction in support of the Chadwick Boseman foundation.

Behind The Build

IHC drew design inspiration for the Wakanda Forever Gallery from the film’s World Premiere in Hollywood. The purple carpet was encapsulated in concrete-textured, monolithic builds with grandiose golden columns and Wakandan letters inscribed. We brought this royal inspiration to the Cinemark Playa Vista screening.

Our version also boasted large gold-painted columns with Wakandan scripture. The art pieces and artist's statements were secured to the concrete-like flats that completely masked the original walls of the Cinemark. A custom-fabricated sign was created to display the title treatment, and moments of foliage hung from above as the final touches to bring the gallery to life.
