i blame too many drinks and sleeping on franki chan's patio all week in smog heaven aka lalaland aka Los Angeles.

so right before we came down to l.a. for a week long tour which ended last wednesday, we did our third 'WEheartDAFTPUNK' party in Vancouver.
we do them every 6 months. kids come out. get 3D. and we play all Daft edits we've made for 3 straight hours till we have heart murmurs.
so here are three of the edits that we played that nite.

FUCK ME USA was a band that was doing shows when we first started doing dance parties with bands 5 years ago.

i would try to book FUCK ME USA as many times as i could. they would shred. 16 year old female singer, best and prettiest drummer in Vancouver and a guitar and bass combo that was writing the best disco punk(?) at the time.

au pairs meets esg times a billion hood East Van art/skid points.

anyways.

they all screwed it up by dating and undating.

but went on to secret bigger and better things.

When I played with Broken Social Scene a couple years ago in Vancouver, Feist was on tour with them. She disappeared when she wasnt singing and I went to my lil deejay booth and she was sleeping under my turntables. Probably one of the cutest things ever.

that's why we were super sarcastic/reallllllyyy funny our whole life.

now THE ONION/AV CLUB said that MY!GAY!HUSBAND! is one of the worst band names of 2007!

this makes me so happy, cuz everyone asks why i have this dj name(especially everyone who sees my profile on Blackplanet.com)and i made this stupid deejay name before there were bands like !!! and ON!AIR!LIBRARY! or anything with exclamation marks.

I just didn't want people to know my real name cuz in Vancouver there were all these idiot raver dj's, when we started our dance parties 4 or 5 years ago, and their names were really creative like DJ Steve and DJ Mike and DJ Steve-Mike and i think they made their names so simple cuz:

1) so girls would know their name or something or

2) they were fuckin rude egomaniac local deejays who believed in retarded terms like "local celebrity" or something and wanted eveeerrryyyoonnneee to know their white ass names

but the downside to having this name is that you are walking with your parents down a street and some meatheads yell it from across a busy street/restaurant.

this is the highlight of my johnnyonlinereadaboutyourself life!

i might be the only band on this list bragging about this....

GLASS CANDY have been around for more than a minute.

GLASS CANDY made all of us shit our minds year ago when they'd come up to heroin district/east end in Vancouver and just rip old indie kid/skid dance parties with distorted screams and drum machines and pretty much personified the term "death disco".

And all this from Portland, of all places.

Then out of nowhere GLASS CANDY, produced by Johnny Jewel with singer Ida fronting the act, came out with the most genuine space:peace disco that makes you wish that all this rave noize would shoot itself around the sun and come back happy like this with nice lyrics and melodies and lots of reverbbb and eccchhooo on the mic!

GLASS CANDY are probably one of the best live/dance bands out in North America. If you are a promoter around North America/the world then Myspace these kids and book them up. You couldn't get two nicer people in the band as well! When they play you feel like you are lucky enough to be back at a Warhol factory party aka this shit is too cool for school!

I really hope GLASS CANDY get silly famous and everyone learns to love them like they should!

Hands down, NIYI's "808 KLAP" is my song of the spring/summer so far!

NIYI(pictured above) is from sunny(and affordable) ol' London, and pretty much NIYI is what I hope my future son will turn out like! We all know that no one likes rappers from other countries but the states, but NIYI holds down all things raverap , and we all know that raverap is all we care about this summer!

who doesn't want to singalong at a rave? as much as i like having to see bodybuilders take off their shirts and talk about their emotions and movie ideas, sometimes i just wanna pretend that i thug it out!

And secondly, I have shared with all you my fave fave fave raverap track for the clubs, which is Dizzee Rascal + Wiley(who are getting married i heard!) yelling over every garage rave track by the likes of DJ Zinc and more. this is the best bass track but kids always get terrified on the dancefloor with this one, and desert me everytime!
